Excessive sleepiness during those first months of pregnancy is normally due
to changing levels of hormones, such as progesterone. If you're
experiencing insomnia, find relief by taking plenty of naps when possible,
and drinking warm milk or soaking in a warm bath before bedtime. Do not
take sleeping pills or herbal sleeping remedies without talking to your
doctor first.
Towards the end of your pregnancy, finding a comfortable position to sleep in becomes an issue. Using pillows to support your stomach or between your knees can help to increase your comfort level. Frequent trips to the bathroom in the later months makes getting a full night's sleep next to impossible. Naps during day time hours will help you keep your energy levels up.
