Backaches occur during pregnancy because the back curves more to balance the increasing weight of the uterus. To alleviate some pain discomfort, you can try the following:
Avoid heavy lifting or bending from the waist to pick things up.
When lifting heavy loads -especially children. Bend at the knees, make
sure your back is straight as possible, hold the object or child close to
your body, and raise yourself slowly.
Wear shoes with low heels and good support.
Squat down, bend your knees while keeping your back straight, and let your legs do the work.
Pregnancy girdles help to support your abdomen during pregnancy.
Wear shoes shoe inserts designed for pregnant women, and avoid high heels.
If your mattress is too soft, place a board between the mattress and the box spring.
Sleep on your side with one knee bent and your upper leg supported on a pillow.
Check that posture and keep your back straight and shoulders back.
Heat or cold or pressure to painful areas can also provide relief.
Sit up straight without slouching, and whenever possible, sit with your
legs elevated.
