What are the Most Common Symptoms of Pregnancy During the First Trimester?

By : Admin

The symptoms of pregnancy can vary greatly from one woman to the next.  In fact, even one of the most common symptoms of pregnancy during the first trimester, morning sickness, only occurs in just over two thirds of pregnant women.  Still, there are certain signs and symptoms that it is likely that a woman will experience during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Generally speaking, one of the most common symptoms of pregnancy, especially during the first trimester, tends to be fatigue.  Many women who are pregnant experience fatigue during the first trimester.  The hormonal changes that are taking place in your body can make you feel worn out, lethargic, or even exhausted after just a little bit of physical activity.

Mood swings are another common symptom of pregnancy.  The same hormonal changes that can make you experience fatigue can also affect your mood.  Some women will feel pronounced mood swings as little as a couple of weeks after becoming pregnant.  Some women claim that this can start even earlier in the first trimester!  Mood swings, like fatigue, tend to occur most during the first trimester and then again during the third trimester.

The same hormones fluctuations that can cause fatigue and mood swings can also cause another of the most common symptoms of pregnancy during the first trimester:  breast tenderness.  The increase in hormones can cause breasts to be sensitive and sore, and often to swell.

As mentioned above, another very common symptom of pregnancy during the first trimester is morning sickness.  Morning sickness is also known as pregnancy-induced nausea.  The name "morning sickness" is a bit of a misnomer, as nausea can occur at any time of the day, not just during the morning.  This nausea is sometimes constant, as it is for some women; or, it may just occur occasionally.  The degree to which you feel sick can also vary; you might just feel a little woozy, or you might experience full fledged vomiting.
