Pregnancy is a time of great joy and anticipation. Pregnancy can also be a time of a variety of different sorts of aches and pains. Almost any part of a woman’s body can ache during pregnancy, and her feet are no exception. Swollen ankles and tender tootsies can bother a pregnant woman almost to the point of distraction at times. Fortunately for the woman with aching feet, there are a variety of different sorts of things that she can do to help her situation. One of the things that can help your aching feet is aromatherapy.

There are a couple of different ways that you can go about using aromatherapy to help your aching feet. To understand how these could work, however, it is important to understand what aromatherapy is, and how aromatherapy is thought to work. Aromatherapy relies on the use of essential oils. These essential oils are extracted from a variety of different herbs and other plants. The essential oils are thought to have healing properties. While the essential oils are known to be able to reach the body through the sense of smell, there are those that believe that the essential oils may also enter the body through the skin.

By applying essential oils, then, to the feet, your body is thought to be able to absorb them. You can apply these oils directly, or you can put them into a foot bath. There are a variety of essential oils that you can use for aromatherapy to help your aching feet. Lavender is an especially popular essential oil when it comes to dealing with aching feet. Lavender has the added benefit that it helps you to relax overall.

You can use aromatherapy to help your aching feet either by purchasing pre-formulated essential oil mixtures, or by making your own essential oils. Either method is thought to work the same, although the convenience offered by the pre-formulated products is compelling.
