Baby Shower Theme - Aquarium

Whether the mom-to-be is having a girl or boy a great baby shower theme is simply Aquarium! There is a lot you can do with an aquarium theme and not only will it be fun and easy, but it will be beautiful as well. If you are hosting the baby shower in your home and happen to have an aquarium this will only help your theme. If you don’t have an aquarium, don’t worry, you can still carry out the theme!

Aquarium Decorations
If you have an aquarium then making it the focus of the room will certainly help you carry out the aquarium baby shower theme. If you don’t have one the following idea can still be used alone.

Buy anywhere from 10-20 small fish bows, or one for each guest. Then, buy either BETA fish, or gold fish, guppies or whatever you like or matches your budget. Don’t forget to buy some fish food and rocks to place in the bottle of the bowls. These can be used for each table or else can be grouped together in an elevated tower to look like a big fish aquarium. Then, as each guests leaves, give them a small fish bowl as a baby shower favor.

Have a cake decorated like an aquarium with fish, plants, and the like to help carry out the aquarium theme. Then, have Pepperidge Farm Goldfish, “Fish Food,” gummy fish, and the like to compete the refreshments. A blue punch with plastic fish floating in it is also a great idea.

Aquarium Games
A great Aquarium baby shower game is Go Fish! There are Go Fish games you can buy or else you can create your own. If you create your own simply hang a sheet decorated with various paper fish so it is high enough that you can hide behind it. You will also need a couple cane poles with clothes pens connected to the fishing line. Then, have several prizes that you attach to the clothespin as people are “fishing.” Each individual will win a prize this way and you can attach stuffed fish, fish designed home goods, and other items that go along with your theme.

Baby Shower Theme - Spring Tulips

There is arguably nothing more refreshing and beautiful during the springtime than the arrival of the tulips in one’s garden. Tulips just seem to symbolize spring. For the hostess looking to throw a baby shower for a mom-to-be in the springtime, a tulip-themed celebration may just be the perfect thing to have.

Decorating with Tulips
The first decorative must-have is fresh tulip arrangements for the center of each table. These can be a variety of different colors or a simple 1-2 color schemed arrangement, depending on the hostess’ preference. During the springtime, one will also find that a number of retail stores will be selling Mylar balloons with flowers on them, especially tulips, and these are a great addition to any baby shower. As for take-home gifts for the attendees, a single tulip in a hand painted pot with the baby shower information painted on it is a wonderfully unique party favor idea that many guests will truly enjoy. Also, when decorating with a tulip theme in mind, the hostess may choose from a wide range of colors for decorating the room with streamers which gives the party a festive feel.

Fun Games with Tulip Prizes
One entertaining baby shower game which is played at quite a few baby showers as it is so popular is Baby Shower Bingo. To play this game, the hostess will have prepared sheets with a bingo board on them. The only square which will be filled out prior to the shower is the center square which will have the word “tulip” in it. When the guests receive their papers, they will fill in each square with what they believe the mom-to-be will receive as baby shower gifts. While the mom-to-be is opening her gifts, the guests will play Bingo and the first person to get a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal Bingo will yell “Bingo” and win a prize. Some examples of prizes with a tulip theme include floral stationary or a tulip potpourri sachet.

Baby Shower Theme - Fall Leaves and Gourds

The fall is a wonderful time to have a party, especially one which celebrates the forthcoming arrival of a new baby boy or girl. When a hostess is trying to come up with an appropriate theme for a baby shower yet does not want to go with the usual themes, a baby shower theme which caters to the season in which it is being held is highly appropriate and welcomed.

Fall Decorations that Please and Delight the Mom-to-Be and Her Guests
Decorating with a fall style is something which is not only crafty but unique as well. The centerpiece on each table can be decorated in colors which have an autumn feel to them such as brown, orange, and red. A great centerpiece for this time of year is a candle in the middle that is surrounded by leaves and gourds. The napkin rings can be fall-oriented as well to really bring out the theme on the table. A wonderful party favor for a fall baby shower is a hand painted gourd for each guest which has the name of the mom-to-be, date of the baby shower and any other pertinent information included on it. Instead of going with the usual baby shower cake, unique fall inspired desserts such as pumpkin pie or spice cake can be served to the party goers.

Games with a Fall Twist
A fun game to play at baby showers is the Name That Baby Food game. In order to keep with the theme of the party, the hostess can choose baby foods which have a fall orientation to them such as squash, turkey, etc. Another entertaining baby shower game which can be played is Name That Baby. The hostess will prepare sheets of paper with FALL FUN listed vertically down the left hand side of the page and the mom-to-be and guests will need to come up with both a boy and girl name for each letter in the word “FALL FUN”. Whoever has the most answers in common with the guest of honor wins a prize.

The fall is a great season to host a baby shower and there are so many ways to make this fall-inspired theme simply perfect.

Baby Shower Theme - Dora the Explorer

A television character that is wildly popular with children these days and would make the perfect theme for a baby shower is Dora the Explorer. This is a great theme because it is one that is suitable for either a baby boy or baby girl who is on the way. There are a number of wonderful things which a hostess can do in order to really bring out the full Dora the Explorer theme.

Decorating Dora Style
There are a number of possible color choices which a hostess can select when using a Dora the Explorer baby shower theme. If the mother-to-be knows whether she is having a boy or a girl, the hostess can choose colors most suitable for one gender or the other. On the other hand, if the mother-to-be does not know the sex of the baby, gender-neutral colors such as greens, yellows and purples can be used to decorate the room. There are Dora invitations which the hostess can send out and also Dora the Explorer party favor bags should the hostess wish to purchase these as well. Besides having a cake for the baby shower, the hostess may want to have cupcakes as well and purchase little Dora the Explorer cupcake toppers to put on each one. Multi-colored streamers are also a wonderful way of making the party even more festive.

Baby Shower Games
The hostess may also wish to play some baby shower games in order to bring a more entertaining mood to the party. There is a great game which can be played while the mother-to-be is opening up her baby shower gifts which makes this activity fun for all. That fabulous baby shower game is Baby Shower Bingo. The hostess will make up bingo boards and leave all boxes blank except for the center square which she can fill in with “Dora the Explorer”, which will be the free space. Prior to the gift opening, the guests will fill in their spaces on their individual bingo boards with gifts they think that the guest of honor will receive. During the gift opening, the guests will put an “X” through each gift which they have listed on their board and the first person to get Bingo wins a prize.

Baby Shower Theme - Sesame Street Theme

Perhaps one of the most loved and longest running children’s shows still provided for the viewing public today is Sesame Street. For this reason, what better theme to use for a baby shower than one that is loved by all who have ever laid eyes on it.

Countless Decoration Options
As there are so many characters that play vital roles on Sesame Street, there are also so many options for the hostess who chooses to go with a theme of this type. One fun thing that the hostess can do with regard to decorating the room is to designate a character theme for each table, i.e. The Count table or Big Bird table. Once all the tables have a character as their “mascot”, the hostess can choose the colors for each table which keep with the overall colors of the character. Beautiful floral centerpieces can be set in the middle of each table with a small Mylar balloon placed in the middle of each floral arrangement with the table character on it. Sesame Street character cutouts can be placed tastefully around the room so as not to ruin the feminine baby shower feel. If the guests will be having a sit-down meal and the hostess does not wish to use paper plates for this portion of the shower, why not have paper plates with the Sesame Street logo and/or characters on them to be used for cake time. Mentioning the cake, this dessert should be one which has a Sesame Street character on it to really bring out the theme of the party.

Sesame Street Game
A baby shower game that can be played which has a Sesame Street twist to it is Name That Baby. The hostess will prepare an adequate amount of sheets of paper which have the words “Sesame Street” written vertically down the left-hand side of the page. The guests will then need to come up with a boy and girl name for each letter of the word Sesame Street. The guest who has the most names in common with the guest of honor wins a prize.

Sesame Street is an oldie but goodie and the hostess is sure to pull off a Sesame Street themed baby shower which will please and delight all who attend.
