Coed Baby Shower Game: Forecasting The Future

No one really likes the cheesy games that are often associated with baby showers. And, as more and more expectant mothers choose to have coed baby showers games need to be a bit less girly and silly. However, meaningful games and activities are still fun for all to get involved in. Creative, fun, and meaningful games and activities are best for coed baby showers because the men involved won’t feel like outsiders and everyone will participate.

A Scrapbook For The Future
A great game for your baby shower is to allow all of your guests to help create a forecast for your baby’s future. Each party guest will be given a page for a scrapbook, as well as materials to make their page really stand out. They’ll write or draw pictures to depict what they believe the future of your baby will be. Since each person will have a different idea and a different way to convey their vision, it can be quite comical.

These forecasts can be serious, heartfelt, or even silly, let each guest decide. Doing this in a scrapbook theme is really fun because it’ll be meaningful and fun while it’s being put together and also years down the road when baby is all grown up and you can reflect back on how accurate each forecast was.

Once everyone has completed their drawings or writings each person will share theirs or the mother to be will share them. Once they have all been shared and laughter and tears all the pages will be put together to form a scrapbook for the future. Years from the day of the baby shower, mother and child can read through the forecasts and laugh, and possibly even cry.

An Added Twist
If you want to add a bit more excitement, after the forecasts have been made they will be collected. Each forecast will then be read aloud and then party guests will guess who wrote what. Guests will have fun hearing the forecasts as well as guessing who wrote what!

Baby Shower Theme - Spring Tulips

There is arguably nothing more refreshing and beautiful during the springtime than the arrival of the tulips in one’s garden. Tulips just seem to symbolize spring. For the hostess looking to throw a baby shower for a mom-to-be in the springtime, a tulip-themed celebration may just be the perfect thing to have.

Decorating with Tulips
The first decorative must-have is fresh tulip arrangements for the center of each table. These can be a variety of different colors or a simple 1-2 color schemed arrangement, depending on the hostess’ preference. During the springtime, one will also find that a number of retail stores will be selling Mylar balloons with flowers on them, especially tulips, and these are a great addition to any baby shower. As for take-home gifts for the attendees, a single tulip in a hand painted pot with the baby shower information painted on it is a wonderfully unique party favor idea that many guests will truly enjoy. Also, when decorating with a tulip theme in mind, the hostess may choose from a wide range of colors for decorating the room with streamers which gives the party a festive feel.

Fun Games with Tulip Prizes
One entertaining baby shower game which is played at quite a few baby showers as it is so popular is Baby Shower Bingo. To play this game, the hostess will have prepared sheets with a bingo board on them. The only square which will be filled out prior to the shower is the center square which will have the word “tulip” in it. When the guests receive their papers, they will fill in each square with what they believe the mom-to-be will receive as baby shower gifts. While the mom-to-be is opening her gifts, the guests will play Bingo and the first person to get a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal Bingo will yell “Bingo” and win a prize. Some examples of prizes with a tulip theme include floral stationary or a tulip potpourri sachet.

What Kinds Of Food Should Be Served At The Baby Shower?

The food served at a baby shower is equally as important as having the guests. Everyone will love snack foods that they can carry around while they talk to other party guests. With a new mom to be, little snack foods are a must have. She will appreciate a snack to nibble on between the hugs and pictures.

Your food at a baby shower should revolve around the party’s theme. Say your baby shower theme is under the sea: baby and me. Have the cake made to resemble the ocean. It can have a chocolate baby on top floating along with waves of the ocean. Use blue food coloring in the ice cubes and add these to ordinary glasses of water. Anchors away as your guests munch on fish shaped chocolates. As for snacks, you can have seashell shaped cookies colored pink or blue, of course. Color-code the rest of the food to accompany your theme. With the baby under the sea theme, have blue colored foods with white side dishes. Mashed potatoes work well here.

Have bite sized party foods available. Finger foods, chips, and dip are great foods that allow your guests to walk around, talk to other guests, and still be able to eat. There is no need to make an entire meal for this great event for the new mom to be. In addition, chocolate candies or cookies in the shapes of bottles, safety pins, or rattles are also popular favorites for baby showers. Do not forget to color the snacks accordingly. Pink for girls, blue for boys, and yellow or green for the unknowns. This color-coding also applies to the plates, utensils, and the tablecloth.

Consider the new mom’s favorite dishes as you prepare more hearty selections for the guests. You may also have a potluck baby shower where each guest brings a dish they love. This allows for less stress on your part and also involves each and every guest. Make sure you have enough selections for everyone, so that each guest feels like there is something at the party for them. Fruit and vegetable trays are also an option for the party if you are looking for a healthy alternative to cookies and candies. Whatever you choose to serve at a baby shower, make sure you have plenty. With all the game playing and present opening, it is a great idea to have snacks for the new mom to be and the guests to nibble on.

Baby Shower Game - Baby Scrabble

Baby shower games are a great addition to any baby shower to make the event even that much more fun for all who attend. Baby Scrabble is one such game which will entertain and delight the crowd. It is a wonderful interactive game which will test the knowledge of the guests and possibly award them with a prize in the end.

Items Needed to Play Baby Scrabble
Depending on how many guests are going to be attending the baby shower, the hostess will need to bring enough Scrabble boards to accommodate all of the individuals. If the hostess only has one Scrabble board, she probably won’t need to go out and purchase extra boards as she may be able to borrow some Scrabble games from friends and family members. The idea behind Baby Scrabble is to play Scrabble as one normally would yet only be able to make up words which relate to childbirth, parenting and of course, babies.

How to Award Prizes to the Winners and What Types of Prizes Should Be Awarded
The hostess can arrange the prizes in a number of ways. Perhaps the easiest way to award prizes is to have a prize or two handed out to the guest(s) with the highest score(s) at each table at the end of the Scrabble round. Some wonderful prizes to award at a baby shower are picture frames, candles or Bath and Body Works baskets.

Baby Scrabble is a fun game to play which ties in real nicely with the overall baby shower theme.

Baby Shower Game - Basket of Socks

Purchase several pairs of baby socks that are different patterns and styles. Throw them all in a small laundry basket and ask each guest to match as many pairs as they can in 30 seconds. The guest with the most matched pairs wins a prize and Mom gets to keep the socks.
