This word game is great for large or small groups. The object is to get points for spelling real words at least 4 letters long. You can add to words to get extra points, even if someone gets a shorter word from the word you are thinking of.
To play, one person thinks of a word and gives the first letter. The second person adds a letter not knowing what word he intends on spelling. It keeps going until someone gets a word point and then continues if another word can be made by continuing. For example, say the first person is thinking of the word “highlight.” They would say “h” and then the next person could add a letter. If the second person says “e”, then the word starts to change. If it continues to spell “h-e-l-p” then the person saying the “p” would get a point. You can continue to spell “helper” so the sixth person would get the point and start a new word. If someone is spelling a word in a direction you don’t think will lead to a real word you can challenge them. If they can tell you a word with the letters so far, you would get a “G.” If they can’t, they would get a “G.” The first person to spell G-H-O-S-T is out of the game.

A great baby shower theme is “Let’s Go Hunting” if the father or even both parents are really big fans of hunting. You can really get into this theme and have fun decorating the baby shower for the “Let’s Go Hunting” baby shower. This theme can be used for a baby boy and be a lot of fun.
Decorations
When decorating for your Let’s Go Hunting baby shower you should be sure to buy plates, napkins, cups, even tablecloths in camouflage. You can have some green plants on the table and around the reception area to add to the decoration. While guns are not really the best decoration for a baby shower you should avoid these, but pictures of ducks, geese, bear, deer, rabbits and other popular wildlife one might hunt can be used to decorate as well.
For refreshments at your Let’s Go Hunting baby shower you can serve normal baby shower fare like cake squares, mints, finger sandwiches, or you could really emphasize the hunting theme and have dried venison and other similar foods. It is completely up to you.
Games
A great game to play at a Let’s Go Hunting baby shower is naming that animal. While this will be fairly obvious for some animals it can get more difficult. Simply print or buy photos of a variety of different animals that one might hunt from deer and dove to squirrels and bears and then make flash cards. Then, each participant will have to respond with the correct name of the animal once the flashcard is shown and she will be timed. So, whoever has the most correct and the fastest time wins a camouflage t-shirt, stuffed animal or any other gift you feel is appropriate.

A fun way to get to know everyone else is to play “I have Never…” In this game it is good to have never done something that many other people may have done. To play, give each guest a bunch of tokens, such as pennies, buttons, paperclips, etc. The host then says, “I have never…” and finishes the sentence with something like, “been swimming in a lake.” Anyone else in the group who has been swimming in a lake, must give that person one of their tokens. The person with the most tokens after everyone has had a turn wins the game.

The Baby Name Game is one which has been played at a number of baby showers. However, there are ways in which to make this game unique and tailor it to the individual baby shower so that it is not the same, old game.
How to Play
Many baby showers these days have themes to them. One way in which to make the Baby Name Game a unique and exciting game is to tailor it towards the baby shower theme. For example, if the theme is Precious Moments, the hostess would take a sheet of paper and write PRECIOUS MOMENTS vertically down the left-hand side of the sheet. Next to each letter, she should draw two straight lines. Prior to the baby shower, the hostess will make enough copies to accommodate all of the guests and mom-to-be and bring the sheets along with an adequate number of pens/pencils to the party. When the time comes for the game to be played, everyone will have to select both a boy and girl name starting with each letter of PRECIOUS MOMENTS. For example, for P the guests could list Paula and Peter and so on. Once everyone has filled in their sheet, the guest of honor will read off her names and whoever has the most names in common with the guest of honor wins a prize.
Great Prizes for the Winners
With regard to the prizes, the hostess may choose to buy gifts which are theme-oriented or just regular gifts. For theme-oriented prizes, the hostess can purchase a Precious Moments calendar, for example. If a general theme prize is more desirable, then perhaps a small bottle of perfume or cookie jar would be unique prizes to award. Whatever the hostess chooses to go with for prizes, the guests are sure to be pleased in the end if they win a prize.

The Hush Game is a great game to play during a baby shower for a few different reasons. One, it is of such a nature that it encourages conversation amongst the guests at the party and secondly, it is something that can be played throughout the entire baby shower. The following paragraphs will describe the game and list some of the potential prizes which the hostess may award at the end.
Shhh - How to Play the Hush Game
The Hush Game is fairly easy to play. As soon as each guest arrives at the baby shower they are handed a charity bracelet such as ones on sale for Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund or Live Strong bracelets. These charity bracelets are great items to use for the game and they also support good causes as well. The hostess will be able to easily purchase these bracelets from one of many stores in her area. The guests will keep the bracelets on until they say a certain word. The word may be something such as “Baby” or can be related to the theme of the baby shower, such as “Sesame Street” if the baby shower has this type of theme. The person who heard another say the forbidden word gets to take their bracelet. Whoever at the end of the party has the most bracelets wins a prize.
Different Prizes to Award
The hostess can choose to award one or many prizes at the end of this game. Some examples of prizes which may be handed out include bottles of wine, wine charms or figurines. The decision is entirely up to the hostess regarding what she would like to distribute for awards.
