Planning a baby shower can be a daunting task, especially if you don’t have a theme. A great baby shower starts with a great idea. A fun theme that is great for any time of the year and for both baby boys and girls is Winnie the Pooh. Throwing a Pooh Bear baby shower can be simple yet entertaining and a great way to sweeten the pot for the new baby!

Ceramic containers filled with yellow tulle decorated with hand-made “Huney” labels make great centerpieces. Wrap Styrofoam cones with gold cording and hot glue miniature bumble bees (found in your local craft store) to make a beehive and use these throughout the baby shower site. Shop party supply stores for banners, plates, and gift bags printed with Winnie the Pooh characters. Stuffed Winnie the Pooh bears make great decorations as well. Serve honey laden food at the baby shower. For example, honey cake, finger sandwiches on honey wheat bread, honey mustard chicken and honey roasted peanuts.

Continue the Pooh Bear theme with a game. Gather a variety of flavored honeys, such as clover, peach and vanilla and have guests conduct a taste test to see who can guess the flavor correctly. The person who gets the most right wins a prize. Give the winner a basket of luxurious beeswax candles, Burt’s Beeswax cosmetic and skin care items and Little Debbie Honey Buns. Another idea is to give guest a sheet of paper that has written on it “Pooh Bear.” Guests then have to list a sugary or sweet food item that begins with each letter. For example, “pie” for “P” or get double points by listing “pumpkin pie.” This is a sweet party that both your guests and mom to be will enjoy.
