Healthy Baby & Mom Shower - Salud!

During pregnancy, moms-to-be are very conscious of the baby’s health, and of their own health during that nine month period when carrying the baby. For the very health-conscious mom-to-be, plan a Healthy Baby & Mom Shower for her. This shower should be held in the morning, so you can start or end with a short 15 minute mini yoga session. Ask one of your friends who enjoys yoga to lead a short lesson in the best yoga for pregnant moms. Ask the instructor to focus on easy, yet relaxing yoga positions, and to encourage the guests to have fun with it.

Healthy Snacks

Following the mini yoga session, plan a light healthy brunch for the guests. Serve vegetable quiche, a nice salad with fresh greens and dressing, fruits, veggies and grill up some lean chicken or fish. Serve this energizing meal to your guests to prep them for the next event, the gifts!

Gifts

Ask your guests to also contribute to the theme of the party by bringing gifts that will enhance mom and baby’s health. Some examples include books on nutrition for babies and pampering and relaxation for mom, health tips for pregnancy and post-pregnancy, fresh herb garden-starters and recipe books. You could also ask each guest to bring a nutritious recipe card for the mom-to-be, and place them in a special recipe box. Focus your recipes on easy, healthy ideas for moms; we know new moms are really busy!

For decorations, think simple and bright. Good flower choices for centerpieces include daises, lilies and freesia. Another good choice for centerpieces could be floating candles or floating flowers, like gardenias, in a nice clear glass bowl. The health conscious, organic mom will appreciate the pretty simplicity of this baby shower and the cool tips she will pick up from the gifts to maintain a healthy lifestyle for her new family!
